About the Composer
In the Fall of 2014, Jairo set out to create horror-genre, instrumental music while exploring the field of film scoring. This would mark the beginning of Stalk The Owls®.
Jairo would immerse himself in the study of music production, learning and practicing the art of mixing and mastering, while exploring the use of virtual instruments and synthesizers to compose music; a first for the bass player.
After releasing an album, an EP, and two singles, Stalk The Owls® would be more than just a moniker for horror-genre music. Stalk The Owls® would become an amalgamation of artist, producer, musician, and mixing & mastering engineer embarking on a journey as a film composer.
Since then films scored by Jairo have been featured in various film festivals such as:
- Chicago Horror Film Festival
- Milwaukee Horror Film Festival
- Cinema Scares Film Festival
- Sinister Horror Film Festival
- The Indie Horror Film Festival
- 48 Hour Film Project (Nashville, TN)
- 54 Film Fest (Nashville, TN)
Most recently, Stalk The Owls® won BEST SCORE for the film "Tattletale" at the Scream Diego Horror Film Festival 2025 (listed as Jairo Ruiz).
Jairo continues to work within the genre of Horror films (though not exclusively) and is an advocate for independent film makers. Jairo currently resides in Nashville, TN.
